Hallyu: Korean Wave’s Global Ripple

Poster series exploring the cultural energy and visual language of the Korean Wave.

Hallyu examines how Korean culture has travelled beyond borders, reshaping music, media, and everyday language. Inspired by the V&A exhibition Hallyu! The Korean Wave, the project explores how design might translate that global phenomenon into visual form - capturing its rhythm, vibrancy, and cross-cultural appeal.

A series of posters and digital compositions draw on the contrasts within K-culture itself: the dialogue between tradition and innovation, craft and technology, local and global. Visual elements borrowed from Hangul typography, K-pop stage design, and K-drama aesthetics merge with bold, contemporary treatments to create a new hybrid language of form and movement.

The work reflects on Hallyu’s ongoing influence - how design can express the way culture flows, evolves, and connects people through shared emotion and visual storytelling.
